I have had this cough for about a week. Last night I woke up every few hours. This is my first time being sick as a vegan. I never did take much medication as a non-vegan, but a dry cough at night is irritating, not to mention the lack of sleep. So, what do I do???? Google of course:) I Googled vegan cough remedy. I ended up reading at least 10 sites on the subject.
This is the tea I made based on my reading and what I had in the house:
8 oz. apple juice
8 oz. water
juice of one lemon
ground ginger (I wish I would have had fresh. I did not measure, but probably used about 1/2 t.)
cayenne pepper (I probably used about 1/4 t.)
This has quieted both hubby and my cough, compared to the hacking going on earlier. Here's to sweet dreams.
I will definitely try this next time. I know for sure that lemon and ginger are good remedies, but I'll have to try that pepper!
ReplyDeleteOnions and Honey – this is another one of the effective home remedies on how to stop coughing. Simmer chopped onions in water until soft. Mix honey with onions. Then, strain the onions after boiling for 15 minutes. Drink 2 tablespoons in one day or more.
