Restaurants can really be a challenge. Vegans are putting their faith in someone who may not even understand what vegan means.
I find the best way to explain it is to state that - I do not eat products from anything that has a mother!
I also more often than not, ask to speak to a manager, who usually understands.
Many restaurants have made something special for me, just by talking, explaining and asking.
